About Us
BREAD OF LIFE RESCUE MISSION MISSION is a California non-profit religious corporation and a member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. For almost a decade, Bread of Life Rescue Mission has undertaken the role of meeting the needs of the working poor and homeless. We primarily serve North San Diego County - a six-city area comprised of Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Escondido and Encinitas.
We cooperate and coordinate with local churches, County social services caseworkers, and other community agencies. We reach out to every race, class, ethnicity, religion, citizenship, gender, age, sexual orientation, and disability. We do not discriminate against any sober individual who exhibits a sincere desire to improve his or her life situation. Religious faith is not mandatory, but it is encouraged.
Year round we provide warm evening meals, sack lunches, food boxes, clothing, personal care items and referral services. In addition, we offer our quests spiritual encouragement and facilitate new beginnings.
We are a designated City of Oceanside cold-weather over-night shelter from December 1 through March 31. During our over-night winter shelter season we provide mandatory weekly professional case management for each of our guests. Our case managers work with our guests laying out specific plans geared towards their individual needs along with referral and tracking to help them accomplish their goals. Our services include mandatory drug and alcohol testing and we assist with referrals to substance abuse programs and sober living facilities.
Our values and goals are simply these: To infiltrate the working poor and homeless population with the love and grace of Jesus Christ, to inspire hope, and to effect permanent constructive changes in the lives of those we serve.
Bread of Life is a member of the Association of Gospel Missions.
